In September 2026, the GTI-Producers registered 49.4%, down 2.7 percentage points from the previous month and below the critical value (50%) again after two months, indicating a downward trend for the timber harvesting and primary processing industries in the pilot producing countries.

In Asia, the GTIs for Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia stood at 50.4%, 46.0%, and 23.9%, respectively. Indonesia and Malaysia were in contraction territory, while Thailand rose to near the 50% critical value, indicating relatively stable overall performance. On the supply side, Thailand's harvesting volume continued to decline, while its production volume shifted from contraction to stability; Indonesia's harvesting volume fell for the first time in the recent five months, but production trended upward; and Malaysia's harvesting and production activities continued to operate at low levels. Overall, harvesting was generally weak across the three countries, while production showed clear divergence: Indonesia was on an upward path, Thailand stabilized, and Malaysia remained under pressure. On the demand side, new orders increased in Thailand, while orders in Indonesia and Malaysia declined.

In Africa, the Republic of the Congo (ROC), Ghana, and Gabon posted GTI readings of 49.1%, 48.7%, and 44.3%, respectively, all in contraction territory below the critical value, though the contraction was relatively mild. On the supply side, the Congo's harvesting volume shifted from flat to declining, while production remained stable for two consecutive months; Ghana's harvesting volume stabilized, ending an eight-month decline, while production declined for three consecutive months; Gabon's harvesting volume declined for eight consecutive months, while production stabilized. This month, enterprises in Ghana reported insufficient log supply, and those in Gabon and the Congo reported diesel shortages and high prices, which affected production activities. On the demand side, new orders for all three countries decreased from the previous month, although export orders in the Congo remained stable for three consecutive months.

In Latin America, Brazil, Ecuador, and Mexico recorded GTI readings of 55.3%, 37.6%, and 35.3%, respectively. Brazil remained above the critical value for the third consecutive month, showing an expansion trend, while Ecuador and Mexico were both in contraction territory for five consecutive months. On the supply side, both harvesting and production volumes in Brazil grew for three consecutive months. However, in Ecuador and Mexico, both harvesting and production volumes trended downward, and sample enterprises in Ecuador reported insufficient timber supply. On the demand side, Brazil's new orders increased for the fifth consecutive month; Mexico's new orders declined for the third consecutive month, but export orders stopped falling and stabilized this month; Ecuador's order volume also trended downward.
